Usain Bolt Lose 2008 Olympic Relay Gold Medal Over Nesta Carter Doping

Usain Bolt has lost one of his Olympic Gold medals. The Jamaican sprint legend loses his 2008 relay gold medal due to Nesta Carter’s doping scandal.

Nester Carter was tested positive for methylhexaneamine (a banned stimulant) in a re-analysis of his 2008 blood samples from the Beijing Olympics, the IOC reported on Wednesday.  Carter was part of the winning Jamaican Olympic team that took home the gold for the 4X100 relay.

Usain Bolt won three gold medals in that Olympic games and now he will loose one due to the doping problems of his teammate. Asafa Powell and Michael Frater were also part of that team and will also loose their gold medals.

“The Jamaican team is disqualified,” the IOC said in a statement. “The corresponding medals, medalist pins and diplomas are withdrawn and shall be returned.”

Usain Bolt is still the greatest sprinter in the history of the sports and he has never been caught in any personal doping scandals. Carter was first tested positive for the banned substance last year and at the point Bolt said in an interview that he would be more than happy to return his gold medal.

“If I need to give back my gold medal I’d have to give it back, it’s not a problem for me,” Bolt said.
